An investigation on the effect of thread pitch on the self-loosening of bolted joint caused by fretting wear

Abstract To study the effect of thread pitch on bolt loosening behavior with consideration fretting wear, experiments and finite element analysis were carried out to bolts different pitches. The experimental results demonstrate that wear existed surface. It caused a slow without nut rotation. With increases, clamping force will become smaller, so surface also decrease, indicating lager could increase anti-loosening ability through alleviating wear. FE (Finite Element) show decrease sliding distance had more beneficial effects than contact stress reduction in for larger pitch.
